As stated in the European Standard EN-16686:2015 on "Health Care Provision", Osteopathy is a patient-centered, first intention health discipline, which emphasizes the interrelationship of structure and function of the body, facilitates the body's innate ability to heal itself, and advocates a whole person approach to all aspects of health and healthy development, through the practice of manual treatment.
